Six20 Strength

How we coach

Movement quality first. Strength that lasts.

Where the name comes from.

Six20 means two things, and we meant both of them.

It's our area code. This is a Hutchinson gym, run by people from here, for people from here. That part isn't complicated.

It's also a verse.

“You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

1 Corinthians 6:20

If the body is worth honoring, it's worth taking care of — not punishing, not wrecking for the sake of a hard workout, and not training in a way you can't keep up. That's where our standards come from, and it shows up in how we program, how we coach, and what we consider a good session.

We teach breathing before we teach weight.

Our coaching is rooted in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization — a clinical approach to movement developed by the Prague School of Rehabilitation.

In plain terms: your spine is stabilized by coordinated pressure, not just by muscle. How you breathe, how your rib cage sits over your pelvis, and whether your joints are centered all decide what you can safely load. Teach that first and every lift after it gets easier. Skip it and you spend years training around problems you never had to have.

Three of our coaches are DNS trained, including the one who writes our programming. It's the coursework behind how we screen you, how we cue you, and how we decide you're ready for more.

  • Breathing and bracing coached, not assumed
  • Joint position before effort
  • A movement screen before we load anything
  • Weight added when the pattern holds

We're not here to wreck you.

A session that leaves you on the floor is easy to sell and easy to quit. Soreness isn't a measure of progress, and being exhausted afterward doesn't mean the hour worked.

So we load you in a way you can repeat. Most days you'll leave with something still in the tank. When your week falls apart, we adjust the plan instead of letting you disappear for a month and start over.

Sometimes that means we tell you to take less weight than you wanted, or to go home. That's a harder conversation than pushing you, and it's usually the right one.

We'd rather coach you for twenty years
than impress you for six weeks.

Who you'll be working with.

Certified coaches with backgrounds in athletic training, physical therapy, biomechanics, and strength science — who did the coursework, not a weekend seminar.

What that means on the floor: clear instruction, someone watching your form instead of their phone, and a coach who meets you where you are rather than where they wish you were.

And the room they work in.

Six20 is small. Within a couple of weeks the people training around you will know your name, and you'll know theirs.

For most people walking in for the first time, that's the part that matters.

Come see how it feels.

An hour with a coach, a look at how you move, and a straight answer about what would actually help. If that's not us, we'll say so.
